Smaalenene bridge on E18 betweetn Spydeberg and Askim is a 315-meter-long cable-stayed bridge, carried by 14 powerful cables. Micorea S3 from Elmico was chosen as a membrane to protect the concrete anchorages securing the cables from water absorption and decomposition.
The central part of the bridge and the anchorages were primed with Micopox P and broadcast with sand, and then Micorea S3 was applied in 3mm thickness. This creates a impervious, wear-resistant, and extremely flexible membrane that can withstand large loads and is crack-bridging even at extremely low temperatures. The builder was Statens Vegvesen, and the contracor was the German company Bilfinger SE. NCC Roads was a subcontractor.
